Jon + Maddy | The River at Club Blanton Wedding
Some weddings you show up to with your camera. Others, you show up to with your whole heart. Jon and Maddy’s wedding at The River at Club Blanton was the second kind. From the moment I pulled down that gravel drive and saw this incredible property, I knew this day was going to get under my skin in the best possible way. The details were THAT good. The love was THAT real. And I may have stopped thinking about my settings at least twice just to take it all in.
The Venue
If you’re researching The River at Club Blanton for your wedding, let me save you some time: yes. Just yes.
Tucked right along the Chattahoochee River in Valley, Alabama, this place has a presence before you’ve even walked inside. Dark wood exterior, a stone chimney, that signature sage green door. Inside, it’s all exposed wooden beams, hardwood floors, and a stone fireplace that was made to have twinkle lights glowing around every inch of it. When the sun goes down and the whole room lights up, it feels genuinely dreamy. Southern warmth and actual elegance.
The Details
Maddy’s vision? Blue and white, hydrangeas, classic. And y’all, she absolutely delivered.
Blue and white toile linens, monogrammed frosted cups, lush arrangements of blue hydrangeas, white garden roses, and white delphinium courtesy of B. Anderson Floral Designs, who clearly understood the assignment. Maddy’s crystal and pearl cluster earrings against her sparkly tulle veil were the perfect finishing touch.
The Ceremony at The River at Club Blanton
This is the part of the day I still think about.
White pedestal arrangements filled with blue delphinium, hydrangea, and white roses in gorgeous chinoiserie-style vases flanked the entire aisle. Behind the couple, through a canopy of mature Southern trees, the Chattahoochee River shimmered like it was photobombing on purpose. White rose petals lined every inch of the walkway. Guests went quiet when they walked in.
Jon did not hold it together.
In the absolute best possible way.
The Portraits
One of the reasons I love shooting at this venue so much is how many portrait options you get. Lush green grounds, the gravel drive, soft river light filtering through the trees. Maddy’s off-the-shoulder satin gown and cathedral train were MADE for this setting, and every spot we found gave us something different.
Jon’s groomsmen in their black tuxedos, though. Those boys kept me laughing the entire time and I was absolutely here for it.
The Reception
The party moved to the back lawn at Careless Joe’s and DJ Marley Hendrixx of One Eleven Media Co. locked in from the very first song. The dance floor from Outdoor Events was PACKED. Premium Pours Bartending made sure nobody was standing around empty-handed, and by the time the glowsticks came out, every single guest was on their feet.
The final group shot with everyone they love, glowsticks raised, under the string lights. That one’s going in the album. I mean it.
Thinking About a Destination Wedding?
Jon and Maddy trusted me to travel for their day, and that is not something I take lightly, ever. If you’re planning a destination wedding and you want a photographer who shows up fully prepared for the logistics, the light, and every moment in between, I would love to connect.
